Heavy Traffic
Traffic was slowed and at times halted Monday as a 130-ton elecrical transformer was taken from Santa Fe to Taos for Plains Electric G&T. Precision Heavy Haul Inc., of Arizona cordinated transportation of the transformer. It will be installed at a Taos substation and should be online and providing energy to area residents in to two weeks.

Police escort lights flashed in the pre-dawn darkness signaling the move of the mammoth cargo was about to begin. Like a long yellow caterpillar feeling its way, the convoy cautiously inched the 130-ton 345-kilovolts transformer of Plains Electric G&T Cooperative out of the Santa Fe rail-yard and started it's journey north, to Taos.
